Karson Kupiec, DDS, MS
Dr. Karson Kupiec is a second-generation orthodontist with a multi-specialty orthodontic-pediatric office in Imperial Valley, California. Dr. Kupiec started practicing in 1999 and is focused on delivering the highest level of comprehensive care for adults and children.
Performing in the top 10% of his class during each of his four years in dental school, Dr. Kupiec received his dental degree from Creighton University School of Dentistry in Omaha, Nebraska. Simultaneously, he completed numerous research projects, publishing and presenting them to the International Association of Dental Research. Dr. Kupiec completed his residency at the University of Louisville where he received his master’s degree and orthodontic certificate. Since then, he has been featured on medical radio shows and in dental publications as a leader in his industry
Dr. Kupiec is a member of the American Dental Association, American Association of Orthodontists, the California Dental Association, and the Pacific Coast Society of Orthodontists. He is also the president of the Imperial Valley Dental Society. He also enjoys being part of the community by sponsoring local sports leagues, school fundraisers and church organizations. His practice hosts on-going field trips for Girl Scouts and kids from surrounding schools to tour the office and learn about dental care. He lectures at local businesses and schools in San Diego about orthodontics and how kids can implement a lifetime of good oral habits. Dr. Kupiec believes in giving back and has already been on numerous missionary trips to other countries such as Russia, Nicaragua, Mexico, Peru, Belize, Panama and more.

In his spare time, Dr. Kupiec enjoys being at home in Del Mar with his three children and spending time outdoors fishing, hiking or flying his plane.
Kim Sauer, Pediatric Dentist
Dr. Kim Sauer grew up on an 80-acre farm outside of Springfield, Mo…”Queen City of the Ozarks.” She attended college at the University of Arkansas and received a BS degree in Animal Science. Dr. Sauer received her Doctor of Dental Science Degree from the University of Missouri, Kansas City, where she graduated in the top 10% of her dental school class and was a member of Omicron Delta Kappa Dental Honor Society.
After dental school Dr, Sauer completed a General Practice Residency at the Veteran’s Administration Hospital in La Jolla. While at the VA she honed her skills as a General Dentist but also spent 6 weeks rotating with the Otolaryngology residents and 6 weeks with the Anesthesiology residents. Her experience at the VA Hospital inspired her to join the United States Navy as a Dental Officer. Dr. Sauer spent 5 & 1/2 years active duty serving during Desert Shield/Desert Storm with the Marine Corps, spent time on the USS Cape Cod, and ended her active duty time in San Diego.
Following her time in the Navy she attended the University of Texas at Houston School of Dentistry and obtained her Certificate in Pediatric Dentistry. While at UT she was Chief Resident and received the Peabody Award for outstanding Pediatric Dental Resident in the program her last year.
Dr. Sauer has been practicing in the San Diego area for the past 27 years and is a staff member at Rady Children’s Hospital. She is a Diplomate of the American Board of Pediatric Dentistry and a member of various other dental organizations. When not at work, she devotes her time to her five grown children two of whom are also serving their country in the United States Navy. They have all made her one proud MOM. When time allows, Dr. Sauer enjoys hiking, camping, and water sports. Water polo has been part of her life since 2003 with 3 kids playing collegiate water polo and still chasing one all over the East Coast as a goalie for the United States Naval Academy team.
